CyberPro insurance

Like most businesses, accountancy practices need to insure themselves against cyber-related threats. Theft or loss of data, unauthorised system access, and even adverse consequences from an inappropriate email, website content or social media activity can all affect the ability of a business to function.

Markel’s CyberPro is a cyber liability product designed to protect a firm against liability to third parties arising from an attack. The businesses’ own losses will also be indemnified, including legal, IT security and regulatory costs, and network interruption.

In the event of an attack, CyberPro will aim to initially contain any losses, giving time to assess the damage before the recovery process begins.

Comprehensive cyber liability cover

CyberPro pays costs associated with dealing with the data loss and liability, the potential costs around cyber loss, the liability for damages as a result of the issue and even cover the reduction in net profit following a hacking incident or denial of service.

Specialist 24/7 claims support

Markel Law, our in-house specialist solicitors, and our partners NCC group, the information security experts, provide an integrated solution for coping with a cyber-incident. This includes rapid legal response, IT forensics, and any regulatory issues.

Cyber threats are fast moving, so the immediate actions taken to contain, recover and assess are often the most important protection to stop a cyber-event causing wider financial and reputational damage.

Markel policyholders also have access to specialist public relations advice to manage adverse press coverage should certain claims situations arise.
