HMRC R&D claim update

We understand at these times of uncertainty it can be frustrating when you are reliant on processes and timescales that are out of your control.
As members of the HMRC R&D consultative committee we are provided with updates from HMRC which we will share with you to keep you informed.
Please see a summary of the updates to April 8, 2020
HMRC R&D claim update:
  • R&D tax credit and RDEC claims are now being processed within 28 days of receipt.    

  • We are seeing further evidence that some are being processed in as little as 10 days

  • There has been a small delay on approximately 80 claims which will now be processed by April 20th, new resources have now been deployed to assist with the processing of these claims

  • HMRC currently has a small backlog on RDEC claims beyond 28 days which they intend to clear by April 20th 2020
