Autumn Budget 2018 – SDLT and First Time Buyer’s relief

Previously first time buyers using the shared ownership scheme were not able to get the relief if they chose to pay stamp duty on just their share of the purchase.

Stamp Duty on shared ownership homes, worth up to £500,000 is abolished for first time buyers who have purchased properties from 22 November 2017.

Purchasers who have not previously claimed first time buyer’s relief will be able to amend their return to claim a refund.

This will affect shared ownership property purchasers in England and Northern Ireland.
